Leaving Dublin
(now with our Tour Guide and Driver, Dennis Carroll), we drove
through Portlaoise,
and the quaint town of Abbeyleix, and had a noon appointment
to see the
Rock of Cashel (also known as St. Patrick's Rock)
The majority of the buildings
on the
current site of the Rock of Cashel
date back to the 12th and 13th
centuries. The tower was built using
the dry stone method
(without mortar to bind the stones).
Lunch at Lawrence's Pub
Driving through Tipperary and
Limerick,
we head for Adare, "Ireland's Prettiest Village".
Tipperary is built on the River Shannon and was
made famous by the movie "Angela's Ashes".
Around the village of Adare

In Newcastle
Driving to Tralee via New Castle West
and Abbeyfeale then into County Kerry.
We end the day arriving in
Tralee, on the Dingle Peninsula,
where we'll spend 2 nights.
Dingle is the most western
point
in Ireland. Tralee's port is the most
westerly commercial point
in all of Europe.
